Frequently Asked Questions

"What happens in the first counselling session?"

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and discuss what has brought you to counselling. You can talk about what you would like to focus on and ask any questions you may have. We’ll explore what you hope to gain from therapy and how we can work together. There is no pressure — it’s about finding out whether you feel comfortable and supported.

---

"How long does each session last?"

Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes and usually takes place weekly at an agreed time. Regular sessions help to build trust and maintain continuity, which are important for effective therapy.

---

"How many sessions will I need?"

Everyone’s needs are different. Some people find short-term counselling helpful for a specific issue, while others benefit from longer-term work that allows for deeper exploration. We can review this regularly and decide together what feels right for you.

---

"Do you offer online counselling?"

Yes. I offer counselling both **in-person in Bromley** and **online via secure video platform (Zoom)**. Online therapy can be a convenient and confidential way to access support from the comfort of your own space.

---

"Is online counselling as effective as face-to-face sessions?"

Yes — many clients find online counselling equally effective. It provides the same level of empathy, connection, and confidentiality. It can be especially useful if you have mobility issues, live outside the area, or prefer the comfort of your own home.

---

"How much do sessions cost?"

Individual sessions are £55 for 50 minutes. Payment is made before or immediately after each session by bank transfer. I will provide full details when we confirm your booking.

---

"What if I need to cancel a session?"

I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged in full, as the session time is reserved for you.

---

"Is counselling confidential?"

Yes. Everything you share in counselling is treated with strict confidentiality. The only exceptions are if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. These situations are rare and would always be discussed with you wherever possible.

---

"What issues can counselling help with?"

Counselling can help with a wide range of concerns, including:

• Anxiety, stress, and depression
• Family and relationship difficulties
• Low self-esteem or lack of confidence
• Past or childhood trauma
• Domestic or sexual abuse
• Grief and loss
• Work-related stress
• Life transitions and personal growth

---

"What is the difference between counselling and life coaching?"

Counselling focuses on understanding and healing emotional distress, while life coaching helps with goal-setting and motivation for future change. In my practice, I often integrate both approaches, depending on your needs and goals.

---

"How do I book an appointment?"

You can contact me directly by phone on 07525 656505 or via the contact form on this website. I will get back to you as soon as possible to arrange a time for your first session. If you have any questions before booking, please feel free to get in touch.

---

"What if I feel nervous about starting counselling?"

It’s completely normal to feel unsure or anxious about beginning therapy. Many people feel this way at first. My role is to provide a calm, supportive space where you can talk freely and at your own pace. Most clients find that any initial anxiety eases after the first session.
